Crude prices have again flared and its effects are evident all over again.

Paraxylene (PX) prices in Asia are gaining forward momemtum due to the overnight flow of upstream energy values.

February contract prices in Asia are pegged between US $1000 per metric ton CFR to $1040 per metric ton CFR.

Japan Energy announced its price at the $1000 per metric ton CFR mark.

Spot prices for PX had increased significantly and were quoted at $1060 per metric ton CFR levels and above.

Buyer resistance apart, some activity on this front is expected to take place with the improvement in the derivative segment after the Chinese holidays, and also due to the overnight boost in energy values.
