P-Xylene prices decline in US & Europe last week

In the week ending November 24, P-Xylene prices were stable-to-soft in Asia, whereas it showed downward trend in Europe and US.

In Korea, P-Xylene prices were stable last week due to sluggish support from the downstream buyers. Prices opened at US$ 1545/ton FOB Korea, higher by US$ 10/ton as compared to its previous week. P-Xylene prices were spotted in the range of US$ 1545-1550/ton FOB Korea.        

In S.E. Asia, P-Xylene prices showed downward trend due to weak downstream support. In the initial days of the reporting week, prices were at US$ 1555/ton, slightly lower as compared to its previous week. Prices hovered in the range of US$ 1555-1560/ton CFR S.E. Asia.

Contract prices could not be settled in Asia, as no agreements were finalized.

In Europe, P-Xylene prices declined due to dull market sentiments in the region. In the initial days of last week, prices were assessed at US$ 1460/ton, lower by US$ 25/ton as compared to the same period of its previous week. P-Xylene prices were assessed during the week at US$ 1460/ton FOB Rotterdam.

In US too, P-Xylene prices went down. In the initial days of last week, prices were assessed at US$ 1515/ton, lower by US$ 10/ton as compared to the same period of its previous week. Speculators witnessed spot prices in the range of US$ 1505-1515/ton FD US.

November contract prices were settled at 76.5 (cents/lb) (US$ 1683/ton), higher by 1.5 (cents/lb) (US$ 33/ton) as compared to the October contract prices of 75 (cents/lb).
