Global P-Xylene prices surge last week

In Korea, P-Xylene prices went up due to strong support from the downstream buyers in the week ending December 8. Prices opened at US$ 1555/ton FOB Korea. P-Xylene prices were spotted in the range of US$ 1555-1630/ton FOB Korea.
 
P-Xylene prices showed upward trend in S.E. Asia, due to higher upstream product prices and robust downstream support. In the initial days of the last week, prices were at US$ 1565/ton, slightly up as compared to the same period of the previous week. Prices hovered in the range of US$ 1565-1650/ton CFR S.E. Asia.
 
Nominations for December contract prices of P-Xylene in Asia were in the range of US$ 1590-1620/ton CFR Asia.
 
In Europe, P-Xylene prices showed similar trend as Asia, due to improved market sentiments and tight product availability in the region. Price hikes in Asia and US also affected P-Xylene prices in Europe. 
 
In the initial days of the last week, prices were assessed at US$ 1470/ton slightly up as compared to the same period of the previous week. P-Xylene prices were assessed during the week at US$ 1470-1535/ton FOB Rotterdam. Initial European contract prices of P-Xylene were settled at € 1205/ton (US$ 1545/ton) FD NWE. This represents a decline of € 5/ton as compared to the last month.
 
P-Xylene prices too went up in US. In the initial days of last week, prices were assessed at US$ 1515/ton. Speculators witnessed the spot prices of P-Xylene in the range of US$ 1515-1560/ton FD US.
