A methanol plant with annual production capacity of 850,000 tons will be set up by the Gulf of Guinea Oil Exploration Limited (GGOEX) in Delta state of Nigeria.

The proposed plant, when it becomes operational in 2015, would be the largest methanol plant in West Africa. Mitsubishi Methanol Process (MMP) would be used as the process technology at the plant, GGOEX said.

To be financed by International Financial Corporation and local banks, the new plant will produce 2,500 tons per day of federal grade AA methanol.

GGOEX is an integrated energy company that engages in exploration, development and production of gas assets in the Gulf of Guinea.
