Kolkata-based Saraf Agencies has stated that it is committed to the Rs. 50 billion titanium project, proposed to come up at Chhatrapur in Ganjam district of Odisha state, even though the Russian joint venture partner has dropped out of the project.

At present, Saraf Agencies has acquired 260 acres of land at the proposed project site and the company has sought an additional 250 acres of land for developing titanium park, SM Shroff, chairman of Saraf Agencies told reporters after meeting Odisha state chief secretary BK Patnaik.

The foundation laying ceremony for the titanium project, which will include a titanium dioxide plant and a titanium park, would be performed this month and titanium slag production is likely to commence by April 2014, while titanium dioxide production would start within 20 months of foundation laying ceremony, Mr. Shroff said.

He informed that the company would set up the titanium plant on its own without the involvement of earlier proposed Russian joint venture partner.

He further said that the company would install Chinese equipments at the plant.
