M-Xylene trends down in Asia & stable in US last week

M-Xylene market showed downward trend in Asia while it was steady in Europe and US in week ending January 5.  
 
In Korea, M-Xylene trends went down, due to weak demand from the downstream market. In the early days of last week, prices were assessed at US$ 1245/ton lower by US$ 20/ton as compared to the same period of its previous week. Prices were assessed at US$ 1245-1255/ton FOB Korea, during the week.
 
M-Xylene prices declined in S.E. Asia. Market analysts marked the spot prices of M-Xylene at US$ 1285-1295/ton CFR S.E. Asia.
 
In Europe, M-Xylene prices remained unchanged in reporting week due to sluggish regional downstream demand trends. In this market scenario, M-Xylene prices were assessed at US$ 1265/ton FOB Rotterdam, same as compared to its previous week. Prices were spotted at US$ 1265/ton FOB Rotterdam, which were steady during the week.
 
In US, M-Xylene prices showed similar trend as Europe last week. Downstream demand trends were sluggish in the region. Overall market sentiment was insipid. 
 
US M-Xylene prices were witnessed in the range of 425-475 (cents/gallon) FOB US. Contract prices for the month of January were settled at 466 (cents/gallon) higher by 36 (cents/gallon), as compared to the contract prices of December. This price increase was due to tight supply conditions in the market.
