Benzene prices hold in US, dip in Asia & Europe last week

Benzene prices went down in Asia and Europe, whereas they were steady in US in the week ending January 19, 2013.

In Korea, Benzene prices decreased, due to sluggish buying sentiment in the downstream market. In the early days of last week, prices were at US$ 1385/ton lower by US$ 95/ton, as compared to the same period of its previous week. Prices were assessed in the range of US$ 1370-1400/ton FOB Korea.

In Japan, Benzene prices showed similar trend as Korea. Speculators assessed the spot prices of Benzene in the range of US$ 1375-1405/ton CFR Japan.
 
In India, Benzene prices showed similar trend as Korea and Japan in the reporting week. Initially, prices were at US$ 1395/ton lower by US$ 95/ton, as compared to the same period of its previous week. Benzene prices were spotted in the range of US$ 1380-1410/ton CFR India.
 
Benzene prices went down in Europe, due to lower upstream and downstream product prices. In the initial days of last week, prices were at US$ 1390/ton lower by US$ 105/ton, as compared to the same period of the previous week. Prices were spotted in the range of US$ 1390-1460/ton FOB Rotterdam. Contract prices for January were settled at US$ 1529/ton FOB NWE.
 
Benzene prices were steady in US and were assessed in the range of 470-495 (cents/gallon) FOB US.
