In China, Acetic acid prices showed mixed trends in the week ending January 19, 2013.

Prices showed downward trend in South and East China regions and were assessed in the range of US$ 430-470/ton whereas they were steady in North China and were spotted at around US$ 430-440/ton FOB China.

The Chinese downstream demand was sluggish amid weak market sentiments in the region. The Acetic acid market was heard to be under consolidation.

Contract prices for the month of January in Europe, were witnessed at € 400-440/ton FD NWE (US$ 533-587/ton), same as compared to the December levels due to adequate supply conditions in the market.

There was upward pressure on Acetic acid prices because of higher upstream product prices. According to the market experts, this would have effect on prices in the month of February. Spot prices for bulk quantity were witnessed around € 400/ton FD NWE
