Assam Petrochemicals hopes to start its new acetic acid plant towards the end of 2015.

“The start-up of plant has been postponed due to some pending regulatory issues. It was originally scheduled to start towards end-2014,” an Assam Petrochemicals official told fibre2fashion.

Located at Namrup in Assam, the plant will have an acetic acid production capacity of 200 tons per day.

The acetic acid plant is being set alongside a new methanol plant, which would have a capacity of 500 tons per day. A small percentage of the methanol would be used as raw material to produce acetic acid.
