China is pondering over new schemes and working hard so as to shoot up its refinery capacity by 31.6 percent and almost increase its ethylene output twofold by 2010.
The economic planning organization revealed plans to set up a crude oil processing base in South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region refine imported oil and also in Southwest China's Sichuan Province for oil from the country's domestic fields.
China aspires to advance production efficiency within the two industries, secure domestic supply and develop producing facility allocation across the country.
Modern refining facilities will be added with the facility of almost 90 million tons by 2010.
NDRC also informed that the country would build three ethylene production areas in the Yangtze River Delta, the Bohai Rim and the Pearl River Delta.
By 2010, it plans to increase the country's ethylene production capacity by as much as 10.58 million tons, compared with last year's production of 7.55 million tons.
