Benzene markets dull

Benzene spot prices in Asia dropped slightly as a result of lowered demand.

However, the strong benzene prices in the US supported the prices and prevented a steep slide.

Spot purchases had declined as most of the significant consumers were attending the 31st International Petrochemical Conference in San Antonio, Texas, USA.

Seller offers stand at around US $740 per metric ton FOB Korea mark whereas the buyer bids are pegged lower at US $720 per metric ton FOB mark for April.

Nevertheless, sources report that the Japanese firm Nippon Petrochemicals posted its contract prices for April at $750 per metric ton CFR Asia.

Further adding to this downtrend is the fact that buying interest in the SM markets is moving South, affecting the prices negatively.
