LG Chem, a major global supplier of quality petrochemicals ranging from basic distillates to specialty polymers, is planning to shut its Daesan, South Korea based aromatics plant for maintenance turnaround next month.

“We have plans to shut our aromatics plant on September 1, 2013,” a company official told fibre2fashion.

“The plant is likely to remain off-stream for around fifteen days,” the official added.

Although the company has no capacity expansion plans this year, it will implement a change in the manufacturing process during the maintenance turnaround, according to the official.

The Daesan aromatics plant has a capacity to produce 260,000 mt/year of benzene, 60,000 mt/year of toluene and 24,000 mt/year of solvent-grade MX.
