Strong global aromatics sector and energy values have pushed benzene prices in Asia in the positive range, marked higher than their previous level.
Growing downstream Styrene Monomer numbers are further supporting its serial climb.
Sources reported the contract prices for late April and early May were jacked up to US $725 per metric ton FOB Korea levels yesterday, and later jumped to $735 per metric ton FOB mark, this morning.
Sources also added that buyers believe that the seller offers between $750-755 per metric ton Korea mark is wee bit higher and thus unacceptable.
However, traders are confident that since the end of the turn around season is nearing and several SM units will finish their maintenance work, the demand will rise; thus backing these rates.
Nevertheless, sharp increase in prices is not expected.
BTX complexes would have also completed their turnarounds which will improve the supply of benzene here.
