Cheaper dyestuffs from China are chilling Gujarat's dyestuff and dyeing units sales.
These Chinese products are cheaper by 25 percent than those produced in the State.
This has forced dyes producers and small scale industries to lock shop, sources indicate.
Besides, local companies are expanding their units to increase exports via imports from China due to cost factor. And import of dyes from China under the advanced license scheme allows them duty exemption.
Further, factors like higher tax structure and electricity rates, sales tax, environmental laws and value added tax render their business scale, uneconomic.
