National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) reported that the 11th Five-Year Program (2006-2010) will emphasize performance fibre, differential fibre and environment-friendly fibre industry.
China also plans to develop Paraxylene (PX), Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA), and Ethylene Glycol (EG) sectors with expected contribution rate of 50 percent by the end of 2010.
High-quality, super-large, precision and short-range polyester fibre production technology and equipment, and large Jinlun polymerizing technology, development of multi-function acrylic fibre and differential fibre varieties will also be prioritized.
Xinjiang, Hubei, Northeast China, Sichuan and Chongqing will be important hubs for the progress of chemical fibre industry.
China became the top producer of chemical fibre in the world for 2005, with output of 16.29 million tons.
