Dyes import show a mix trend

Although, a rise in domestic demand for high quality dyes and organic pigments can be seen this year, country's imports of disperse, acid, basic, reactive and direct dyes showed downward trend from January to September 2007.

September imports of various dyes totaled to 4,911 tons, down 5.23 percent from the same period last year. Import value amounted to US $34.45 million, up 9.99 percent.

Textile auxiliaries imports reached 6,813 tons, down 9.87 percent, which valued at $17.63 million, up 2.68 percent.

In the first nine months, the country imported 2,543 tons of disperse dyes worth $18.55 million, down 19.86 and 6.36 percent respectively.

Acid dyes imports were 9,756 tons, down 6.03 percent, valued at $70.34 million, dropped to 1.61 percent.

Alkaline dyes imports touched 1,833 tons, showing a fall of 15.61 percent. These were worth $9.38 million, up 17.40 percent.

Direct dyes imports reached 4,551 tons, down 20.50 percent, amounted to $34.2 million, a fall of 17.21 percent.

Reactive dyes imports were 25,100 tons, up 7.58 percent, which was valued at $137.43 million, rising 24.05 percent.

Vat dyes imports were 1,349 tons, soared to 30.60 percent, with the amount of $16.49 million, giving an increase of 70.7 percent.

Sulphur dyes imports reached around 846 tons, surging 69.54 percent, worth $3.38 million, up 89.8 percent.

To summarize, in the first nine months, imports of disperse, acid, basic and direct dyes decreased; while imports of alkaline, vat and reactive dyes indicated relatively higher growth both in terms of value and volume.
