A Koch Supply & Trading company has begun construction to expand the products it offers at its 80,000 barrel-per-day Rotterdam refinery, which is uniquely capable of processing a diverse array of feedstock and positioned to serve markets in Europe, the United States and Asia.
“We are committed to continuously improving our ability to meet customer's needs,” said Steve Mawer, president of Koch Supply & Trading. “The expanded product mix greatly improves that ability. Our 2005 expansion increased capacity and feedstock flexibility, allowing us to process a diverse slate of condensate and crude oils. This latest investment enhances the plant's light end capabilities and our ability to satisfy the growing global demand for high-quality naphtha.”
The refinery, built in 1994, is the largest merchant naphtha producer in Europe and will ultimately produce two new premium grades of naphtha; one customized as a feedstock for the growing chemical industry demand and one tailored for gasoline blending.
Additionally, the refinery will produce merchant-quality butane for use in petrochemical and gasoline production while maintaining Koch Supply & Trading's current commitment to the jet fuel, gas oil and high end residual fuel markets.
These investments will also provide the foundation for Koch Supply and Trading companies' merchant gasoline blending business in Europe. By combining extensive U.S. blending experience with the premium quality blendstocks from the expanded refinery, Koch Supply & Trading companies will be able to provide additional value-added services to the Atlantic Basin gasoline market.
