Just days within the imposition of anti-dumping duty on imports of flax fabrics from China and Hong Kong, the Government of India has now slapped anti-dumping duty on imports of Sodium Nitrite (NaNo2) from China.

The duty will remain in force up to January 16, 2011. Sodium nitrite is a white crystal powder that finds application in textiles, dye industry, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, lubricants and construction chemicals.

The antidumping duty was imposed on recommendations of the Directorate General of Anti- Dumping and Allied Duties, who concluded that imports of Sodium Nitrite could prove to be detrimental to the domestic sector.
