SDC EC organises Young Talent Search

Shohrat Saiyed, M.Sc student of The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, was the 1st runner up. Her project was on ‘Craft Sustainability through Design Intervention – Focus on Colour’. The objective of her project was to sustain the Ikat craft of Surendranagar, Gujarat, through design intervention. She is being guided by Dr Reena Bhatia.

Pooja Pawar, also M.Sc student at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara, was the 2nd runner up for her project on ‘Reinventing the Tribal Cloth of Chhota Udepur, Gujarat – A Colour Story’. She has given the tribal cloth a new look for a new market, especially through product diversification with colour as the focus to help the craft revive and sustain both the weavers and the craft. She is being guided by Dr Reena Bhatia.

The judges for Fashion & Design session were Anup Kumar of Style Globe, Pinky Kotecha of Bestseller Fashions India, and Pramod Sharma of Park Avenue.

The winner’s cash prize was sponsored by Fibre2Fashion.com, while the first runner up cash prize was from Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and second runner up prize was from Tanul Laboratories (India). (RKS)
