Organized by the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF), the 2025 Taipei Innovative Textile Application Show (TITAS) officially opened on October 14 at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 1.

To demonstrate the government’s strong support for the textile industry, Vice President Bi-khim Hsiao attended the grand opening ceremony. She was joined by TTF Chairman James Kuo, Director General of the Industrial Development Administration Chyou-Huey Chiou, Director General of the Department of Industrial Technology Mr. Kuo Chao-Chung, and Secretary General of International Trade Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs Ms. Huang Ching-hsuan.

The event was held with enthusiastic participation from domestic and international textile professionals, trade association representatives, and other distinguished guests, officially kicking off the most significant annual event for Taiwan’s textile industry.

TTF Chairman James Kuo stated that TITAS is the most iconic international platform for Taiwan’s textile industry. This year’s show features 388 exhibitors across 904 booths and has attracted nearly 70 international brands to Taiwan for procurement meetings. Buyer delegations from countries such as Korea, Vietnam, and India are also in attendance, reflecting strong global interest in Taiwan’s textile products. Chairman Kuo emphasized that, with the European Union set to implement the Digital Product Passport in 2026 and increasing global focus on carbon footprint transparency and the circular economy, Taiwan’s textile industry is actively advancing supply chain digitalization, sustainable materials, and low-carbon manufacturing processes. The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and intelligent manufacturing is also accelerating industrial upgrading. Despite challenges such as weak global economic conditions, currency fluctuations, and geopolitical risks, Chairman Kuo called on the government to continue supporting the industry's transformation and to work together in reinforcing Taiwan’s key role in the global green supply chain.

Vice President Hsiao remarked that Taiwan’s textile industry has remained a key pillar of global industry throughout centuries of industrial revolution. Through the long-standing efforts of industry leaders, Taiwan has successfully transformed by continuously integrating with technology and keeping pace with modern demands, demonstrating outstanding performance in international sporting events. In many of today’s global sporting competitions, the high-performance apparel worn by athletes from various countries originates from Taiwan’s functional fabrics. MIT has now become synonymous with high quality and innovation in the textile sector. In terms of smart manufacturing, the government is actively promoting the “AI Adoption for All Industries” initiative, leveraging AI to help manufacturers adopt smart manufacturing, enhance development efficiency, and strengthen customization capabilities. Vice President Hsiao noted that while Taiwan’s textile industry has long pursued global expansion, many major manufacturers have chosen to “root in Taiwan,” continuing to invest in high-value and sustainable production. In response to evolving global trade dynamics, the government has also introduced export supply chain support programs to help the industry enhance its global competitiveness.

A special and meaningful gift presentation was held during this year’s opening ceremony. On behalf of the Taiwan Textile Federation, Chairman James Kuo presented Vice President Bi-khim Hsiao with a textile artwork woven using advanced computerized jacquard knitting technology, based on a portrait of the Vice President. This unique piece symbolizes the fusion of technology and artistry in Taiwan’s textile industry and expresses the industry’s sincere respect and appreciation for the Vice President. Following the ceremony, the fashion showcase "Recode 2050: Remake the Future" made its debut. Supported by the Bureau of Foreign Trade and executed by TTF, the show marked the first collaboration between Taiwanese textile manufacturers and fashion designers under a government-sponsored program, highlighting the industry's achievements in cross-disciplinary innovation.

After the opening event, Chairman Kuo accompanied Vice President Hsiao on a visit to the booths of leading companies including Formosa Plastics Group, Far Eastern New Century, Lealea Group, Eclat, Grand Textile, and the Department of Industrial Technology Pavilion organized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The Vice President gained firsthand insights into the industry's latest innovations and sustainable practices, offering encouragement and support TITAS 2025 centers around three key themes: sustainability, functional applications, and intelligent manufacturing, highlighting the remarkable achievements of Taiwan’s textile industry in innovative design and sustainable practices. The Taiwan Textile Federation cordially invites all to visit the 2025 Taipei Innovative Textile Application Show and discover the innovation and transformation driving Taiwan’s textile sector forward.
