Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival – Brisbane, hosted by South Bank, is back for 2011 and promises a stellar lineup of designers and a range of fashionable events to satisfy even the most sartorially starved crowds. Running from Saturday 20 until Friday 26 August, the Fashion Festival 2011 will showcase Spring/Summer collections from more than 60 local, national and international designers.
“In what can only be described as a challenging few months for the entire state, we need to promote the best that Queensland has to offer to the rest of the country. The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival is a serious business and generates wide exposure for the city and the designers and retailers involved,” said Festival Director Lindsay Bennett.
Over the past few weeks, 300 models have been booked, fitting sessions scheduled, event running orders updated and plans for the construction of the massive, purpose-built marquee and runway are being finalised. We have been busy liaising with designers and retailers, recruiting our legion of volunteers and putting together the final elements to make this year's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane our most fabulous event yet.
Yes, time is of the essence and sleep-ins will be the first casualty as we draw closer to the Fashion Festival, but we wouldn't have it any other way. And from the way ticket sales are going, it's obvious that everyone is just as excited as we are! We are expecting more than 20,000 fashion-savvy consumers to descend on Brisbane during the Festival week.
A number of our Group Shows are almost sold out, so book your tickets now or you'll miss out. Our program of events is the most exciting yet, with nine Group Runway Shows as well as the Westfield Chermside Australian Fashion Graduate of the Year Award show.
The program also includes the QueensPlaza High Tea and Salon Showings, the free City Fashion Flash shows in Queen Street Mall, the QUT Fashion After Hours panel discussions in partnership with the State Library of Queensland, the Dreaming of Chanel exhibition at the QUT Art Museum and much more.
