PFF celebrates WA's amazing pool of design talent

Perth Fashion Festival (PFF) shone the spotlight on 13 of Western Australia's top designers at WA Designer Collections. Featuring some of the State's most exciting, established and emerging fashion talent including Garth Cook, Elissa Coleman, Tindale, Breathless, Empire Rose, Daniella Caputi and Fenella Peacock, the show was a celebration of WA's amazing pool of design talent.

The third night at Fashion Paramount saw local label Ae'lkemi take to the runway, bringing some serious fashion 'cred' with a collection of statement gowns and pieces in bold colours and prints embellished with sequins and feathers.

Spotted in the front row at Fashion Paramount was Malcolm and Bree Day, Minister John Day, Matthew and Lauren Pavlich, Mitchell and Jessica Johnson, national and international media, Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi and internationally renowned make-up artist Bobby Bujisic.

The schedule will see 'real' women take to the runway, Perth's next generation of design talent on the catwalk and acclaimed national designer Magdalena Velevska make her Perth debut.

Festival highlights include:
- Every Body Counts, 12pm, Fashion Central
Returning for the second year, Every Body Counts will see real women strut their stuff on the runway in an event that celebrates individuality and diversity.

- International Model Search Finals, 3.30pm, Fashion Central
The search is on for the next Nicole Trunfio or Dempsey Stewart as the International Model Search enters its final stages at Fashion Central.

This is sure to be a stunning finale to a fiercely contested competition with some of WA's best new models vying for top spot.

- Student Runway, 6.30pm, Fashion Paramount
Perth's best up-and-coming fashion talent will showcase their hardworking and innovative looks at Fashion Paramount.

Design students from six fashion institutions will present pieces from categories including ready-to-wear women's and men's, eveningwear and eco design. The winner in each category will be announced and will go in the running to win The Carton award.

- Magdalena Velevska, 9.00pm, Fashion Paramount
Known amongst Australia's fashion elite for her precisely tailored pieces cut from silks, linens and natural fibres, Magdalena Velevska will make her Perth debut showcasing her Spring Summer 2011/12 collection.

Magdalena Velevska's tailored structural blazers, simple urban dresses and androgynous trousers are sure to impress crowds at Fashion Paramount.
