The 7th China International Recycled Polyester Forum Shanghai 2011 was mirroring the fast growing importance of the polyester recycling industry in China and globally as well.
280 participants from 15 countries followed the news of our industry for two days and enjoyed intensive networking. Comparing retrospective the participant statistics it becomes obvious, that an increasing number of international companies entering polyester recycling and erecting their subsidiaries in China.
From 38 international participating companies have more than 30% their local match meanwhile. Interesting also to observe that numerous large international companies like Coca Cola, Pepsi Cola, Reliance, Eastman, LG International, Bepex, Tomra, BP, Unifi, Nike, Kolon, DuPont, Fare Eastern, Takemoto delegate their representatives. It becomes a tradition that the conference content provides a balanced mélange of technical innovation, economic retrospective and Chinese economic policy.
Li Shidong, Secretary General of CCFA, China, raised the issue of polyester post consumer clothing recycling. He underlined the huge quantitative potential of this segment and analyzed the current situation in US, Japan, EU and China. Because of the complex implications like fashion, design, production and usage of textiles successful clothing recycling is highly complex compared to bottle recycling.
Li reported about still running clothing recycling projects like ECOCORCLE of Teijin and Zhejiang Furun Recycling Company which is processing post-consumer army uniforms back to military supplies like tarpaulins, socks, camouflage net, geo-textiles etc. Looking at the huge amount of uniforms and textile military supply globally one can imagine the hidden saving potential for governments and new businesses for entrepreneurs entering textile recycling.
