Futuristic Creative Woollen Wearable Art Competition, a premier shearing competition, will take place at Lumsden Memorial Hall on January 13 and 14.

This will be first program in the year culminating in the national New Zealand full wool crossbred shearing championships at the Golden Shears at Masterton in March 2006.

Northern Southland Community Shears planning spokeswoman Jenny Campbell said, it is an opportunity for Northern Southlanders to participate in the two-day shearing event, with an opportunity to popularize the competition and consider it as a holiday activity.

Entrants must provide their own models, using items from the shearing industry to embellish garments, she said.

Some entries from the Wool On competition held in Alexandra during Blossom Festival Weekend would be put up as a model in this event, said Campbell.
