The much anticipated collaboration between British milliner Justin Smith and Indonesian fashion designer Oscar Lawalata is made possible by The British Council. Though modern in thought and appearance, both designers share deep reverence towards tradition.

Oscar Lawalata expresses his through clothes spun out of traditional Indonesian textiles while Justin Smith adopts traditional artisanal techniques to produce his one-of-a-kind headpieces. Naturally, this will be the nature of their collaboration. The two of them even traveled all the way to Jogjakarta and Sintang, Kalimantan in preparation of this show. This is definitely a show not to be missed.

Justin Smith (b. Exeter, 1978) established his own highly successful, exclusive hairdressing salon in central London known as And People Like Us in 2002. He began designing and making hats in 2000 while undertaking part-time millinery training.

Oscar Lawalata burst into the world of fashion in 1998 with his now distinctive style which draws upon the various aspects of Indonesia's rich and diverse culture.
