In Rio de Janeiro, Fashion Rio swears in the 2006 Brazilian Calendar, presenting the first collections for autumn-winter.
The theme for this year's edition of the Rio Fashion Week is 'Horticultural', which basically focuses on mankind's return to nature, valuing handcraft techniques in the middle of the 21st Century.
During today's press conference held at 4PM, Eloysa Simão, from Dupla Assessoria (the company that idealized the event and handles the coordination), announced this week's changes, with the introduction of new brands (Cantão, Acqua Studio and Elisa Chanan) and returning brands, such as Carmelitas and Wendell Bráulio.
“I hope all of Brazil takes advantage of the information we dissclose on the walkways as well as off of them,” said Eloysa, referring to the lecture on trends to be held tomorrow at Fashion Business (a parallel event) with Stúdio Li Edelkoort.
Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association (ABIT) Director-Superintendent, Fernando Pimentel, projected the total volume of exports for 2005, which closed at US$ 2.2 billion and a balance of payments with a surplus of US$ 700 million.
“It was a year full of challenges (2005) and that thanks to the competence of the textile and apparel industry we were able to close showing growth of around 5 percent,” explained Pimentel.
Firjan, Sebrae, and Senai reported on the novelties in the Rio fashion industry and most especially the revitalization of the Rio de Janeiro apparel industry, the growth of apparel industry poles and the organization of artisans in cooperatives. Nearly one thousand artisans spread over 80 stands participated in the Fashion Business alone.
Motorola and OI, both master sponsors, also participated in the press conference and announced product launchings.
ABIT embraces such mission and offers the Brazilian textile market all the necessary support to meet the aforementioned goals.
