Showcase Bangladesh 2012, organized by Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI), in collaboration with the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia South-South Association (MASSA) and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), in Kuala Lumpur, received good response.

The three-day event introduced various Bangladeshi products and services to potential buyers and importers of Malaysia.

Besides promoting Bangladesh’s image, heritage and culture in Malaysia, the event also acquainted non-resident Bangladeshis in Malaysia with products and services of different Bangladeshi banks.

Speaking exclusively to fibre2fashion, Mr. Syed Nurul Islam, President, BMCCI, and Chairman and CEO of Well Group of Industries, said, “Showcase Bangladesh 2012 was really a great experience. It was visited by over 500 people from different sectors.”

“The main objective of Showcase was to promote the Bangladeshi products and services, which was done successfully,” he said.

“At the event, we also motivated our people working in Malaysia to send their money back home through banking channel. To attract them we organized a cultural programme, which was attended by over 7000 Bangladeshi people working in Malaysia, and a significant number of NRB accounts were opened with 10 participating banks,” he informed.

“Through Showcase Bangladesh, we were able to uphold the image of Bangladesh as the second largest readymade garment (RMG) manufacturing country in the world,” he avers.
