Buffalo City Metro (BCM), a town situated on the east coast of Eastern Cape Province in South Africa, has launched its first ever East London Fashion Fair.

Through the fashion event, BCM is trying to give a boost to its ailing textile and apparel sector. The event provides opportunities to various local and international fashion designers to showcase their creations.

The BCM’s first ever East London Fashion Fair would specifically highlight the indigenous Shweshwe print, believed to have originated in the Eastern Cape region and a hallmark of Xhosa culture.

In addition to display of outfits by fashion designers, the East London Fashion Fair will host a design competition for the students at the end of August. The winner of the competition will be flown to Germany in September to showcase his/her designs.
