The 20th edition of the official calendar for Brazilian Fashion - São Paulo Fashion Week is kicking off with an estimated investment of R$6 million.

The event to be held until the 23rd January at the Ibirapuera Bienal Pavilion in the state capital should receive 120 thousand people besides the 3 thousand professionals involved in this 2006 Autumn/Winter edition.

The São Paulo Fashion Week has the support of ABIT and APEX-Brasil, among other entities.

During the press conference, Artistic Director Paulo Borges announced the novelties for this edition, which is celebrating 10 years. These novelties include the SPFWPreview – a pre-collections calendar with two annual editions, geared exclusively to buyers and the specialized press.

The FWHouse promises to be a showroom space with the objective of bringing designers and creators from the diverse fashion segments closer to the international buyers. In its first edition, from January 18 thru 27, it shall gather more than 50 selected brands.

Cardboard was used as the symbolic material by curator Daniela Thomas and Felipe Tassara to provide the Bienal environment this edition. Nine tons of cardboard were used to construct the sculptures that cover more than one kilometer of the event's interior walls.

Patrícia Vieira, Karlla Girotto and Zigfreda debut on the SPFW walkways and the Maria Bonita brand returns to the event.

As in the previous editions, ABIT will have alounge at the event where it will receive authorities, fashion professionals and guests. The space is in partnership with SESI/SENAI.
