“For me, the Mégane is the best representation of my Skorzch label possible so I designed my range very much along its lines and I believe the translation is evident: Like Mégane, the Skorzch suit boasts an eye-catching exterior design and a strong, colourful personality while the interior linings are smooth, detailed, well-structured to give provide a good fit.”

Sithetho says that SA fashion is progressing at a steady pace and he believes that it is largely being driven by consumers who buy clothes they can relate to. His intention is to invest his winnings in his brand. “There’s equipment to buy, marketing to be done and an overall upgrade of the business are priorities. As for wheels … I can now go and see my clients wherever they are. No more taxis for me!”

“It has been a privilege to see the Zano and his peers in action during the creative process and we have watched in awe as their designs on paper have morphed into the inspiring and breathtakingly beautiful reality you have seen on the catwalk here tonight,” continued Stanton.

“There is, however, much more to the competition than simply a good portfolio. Fashion is a business like any other and a key criterion for each of the finalists was to provide the judging panel with a strategy on how they intended to build their brand.”

“The 2012 SAFW Renault New Talent Search was highly-contested and we consider each of the other four finalists - Cindy-Leigh Armstrong, Laz Yani, Jamal Nxedlana and Joel Janse van Vuuren - to be winners in their own right. Unfortunately, our sixth finalist, design duo Crystal Birch and Elme Bekker had to withdraw from the competition at the last minute citing personal reasons.”

Confirming Renault South Africa’s future support of the annual SA Fashion Week New Talent Search, Stanton said that with design integral to both cars and couture, “we are delighted to have brought some of Renault’s trademark French flair to the table in 2012 and very much look forward to participating again next year.

“The epitome of design, style and innovation, the Renault Mégane 2012 Collection is to South Africa’s roads, what we believe Zano Sithetho and his SKORZCH label will become to South African fashion,” she concluded.
