Andhra Pradesh Government had big plans for the proposed textile park at Duddenapalli village in Karimnager district, none of which seem to have been successful.
Out of the 177 units that were expected to come up, only four have started operating.
The park was supposed to be covering 75 acres of land.
Each promoter was offered land ranging between 1200 square yards and 1600 square yards on the pre-condition that automated and modern powerlooms would be established in the park.
Almost 6000 workers were to be engaged in the units here, but now only 45 workers have got employed.
Government had offered subsidies and concessions to the manufacturers.
A subsidy of 20 per cent from both the Centre and the state governments on assets worth up to Rs 30 lakh, a subsidy of Re 1 on a unit of power was offered.
The Andhra Bank and the State Bank of Hyderabad were also interested in promoting textile units.
