The first place winner is Boy to the Door, a child walking towards a door to a new world. The silhouette of the boy exits the doorway into an abyss of soft clouds and a blue sky. This dramatic composition leads the viewer from a dark hallway into heavenly skies.
The second place winner is Cool Cat. This funny composition is a trending theme in t shirt fashion; with the cool cats, music and hipster sunglasses. This is a photographic mash up of a fashionable kitty.
The third place winner is Bear Bear Bear, with a high contrast teddy bear sitting like a western gangster. The texture and lighting of this photo is a creative solution for character and unique photo techniques. The stylish contrast enhances the soft furry qualities of the teddy bear while still looking tough in the high contrast light.
The first place winner received $1500, the second place winner $1000, and the third place winner $750. The Photo Real contest featured photography techniques to make photo real t shirt designs. The photos used unique lighting, textures, and compositions were new styles and trends are being created. The votes, comments, and curators choose the final entries for the best Photo Real T Shirt Contest. It’s the help of the community to establish these new trends in t shirt fashion.
The top 3 winners are printed and ready for sale. Each of the winners are available in both men’s and women’s prints. The winners will be printed with direct to garment printers to reproduce the detail and photo quality of the design. Direct to garment printers specialize in photo real designs with the accurate ink jet printers. Making them a newer choice for printing photography t-shirts; versus the alternative screen printing process.
Design By Humans prints the Shirt of the Day Gallery winners using silk screen printing. This style printing best for crisp edge details and saturated color ink. Silk screen prints are split up designs, broken down by screens and individual colors.

There were over 150 entries for the contest, resulting in a close competition for the top 3 spots. There were a variety of t shirt submissions from stock photography, to illustration and photo manipulation. The winners used iconic uses of photography as the primary theme in the design. The next Design By Humans contest will be announced at the beginning of the year.
