African Mosaique, the biennial fashion and cultural show that aims to promote and celebrate African fashion designs, is going to take place at Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia, from January 4, 2013.

The glitzy fashion extravaganza would showcase creations from three renowned African designers – Shaldon Kopman and Wetive Nkosi from South Africa as well as Taibo Bacar from Mozambique.

Designer Shaldon Kopman would present his nomadic lifestyle-inspired Naked Ape Summer 2013 collection at the event. The line is a mixture of a variety of natural fibres based on neutral colours like muted red and bleached bone.

The event will also feature collections from six established and emerging Ethiopian designers, such as Fikirte Addis, Mahlet Afewerk, Bethlehem Belete, Ruth Woldeselassie and Lilly & Zeze Yohannes.

Since its launch some 13 years ago, African Mosaique has showcased ensembles from nearly 150 designers, and staying true to its past charity history, this time also the proceeds from the fashion event would go to Ethiopian Children’s Fund (ECF), an integrated development project for poor and vulnerable children.
