Advantage Vidarbha, a two-day event to promote the Vidarbha region of western Indian state of Maharashtra as an investment destination, will have the textiles sector as its focus area.

At the event, planned for first week of February, memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to the tune of Rs. 108 billion are expected to be signed, which will usher in a new wave of industrialization in the region, Shivajirao Moghe, Guardian Minister of Nagpur District, said after a meeting with representatives of Vidarbha Industries Association (VIA).

The Minister revealed that captains of Indian textile industry such as Mr. OP Lohia of Indo Rama Synthetics, Mr. Gautam Singhania of Raymonds and Mr. BK Goenka of Wellspun are likely to participate in a panel discussion to be held during the event.

In addition to the textiles sector, the event will also focus on attracting investment in other sectors like mining, agriculture, automobile, food processing, tourism and power equipment.

The event will be co-organized by the VIA and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).
