Pakistani textile entrepreneurs expect their exports to rise considerably this year, as Heimtextile, the world’s biggest textile items trade fair that recently concluded in Frankfurt, extended them with good opportunities to develop business contacts.

On display at the fair were several Pakistani textiles, including bed wear, curtains, cushions, towels, table clothes, dresses and other accessories.

With 219 companies participating in the fair, Pakistan turned out to be the country with fourth highest number of participants at the fair that saw around 2,600 participants from 80 countries.

Several buyers and experts, who visited the Pakistani booths at the expo, praised the products on display.

Pakistan Ambassador to Germany Abdul Basit, who visited the Pakistani stalls at the fair, urged Pakistani entrepreneurs to take maximum advantage of the EU tariff concessions for 75 items valid for current year.

He said entrepreneurs are the support system of Pakistan’s economy, which would really have been in a bad shape in absence of their trust in the nation.

The diplomat also urged the Pakistani entrepreneurs to spare a reasonable part of their earnings for Research and Development (R&D), as innovative and trendy products are the only means that can help them sustain in this fast changing world.
