Jessica Alba, Hillary Swank and Uma Thurman, the pretty American actress brigade, gave freezing Parisians some respite from the dipping mercury by elegantly warming up the second day of Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week with their stylishly smouldering front-row presence.

German designer Karl Lagerfield, from the French fashion house Chanel, presented a dreamy, gothic-inspired Spring/Summer 2013 haute couture collection. Made with exquisite materials like silk, Chantilly lace and tulle, the label’s 69-piece line featured billowing ball gowns, skirt suits, silver leggings and feminine lilac toned floral dresses.

Armani Privé, the haute couture line of Italian fashion house Armani, showcased a perfectly-balanced mix of classic as well as exotic styles. The 54-piece collection, made of Mikado silk, lush satin and organza, included full-skirted dresses, short crisp jackets, opulently-embellished waistcoats and jewel-embedded peplums.

French haute couturier Stéphane Rolland displayed an architecture-influenced collection. The organza, silk and sheer fabric mixed line included a range of Gracian style windswept collared tops, black trouser suits and fishtail as well as hourglass shaped gowns.

Drawing inspiration from masculine-feminine couture aesthetics of 1980s, Brazilian label Atelier Gustavolins presented an exclusive collection featuring leather coats, fur waistcoats, column dresses, satin jackets and black and turquoise coloured evening gowns.
