A variety of soft, warm and cosy furry creations dominated the fifth day of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, going on in chilly snow-covered New York.

Venezuelan-American fashion designer Carolina Herrera featured an elegant fur-lined autumn-winter 2013 collection at the event. The 74-year-old veteran showcased black turtlenecks, cinched waist satin jackets, strapless cocktail dresses and long silk gowns with velvet collars.

Fashion label KaufmanFranco, owned by the prolific designer duo Ken Kaufman and Isaac Franco, also showcased a fur-dominated collection on the same day. A mix of high-and- low-brow outfits, the line included metallic black leather coats, fur-trimmed sequin gowns and biker jackets paired with mink and silver fox furs.

New York-based designer Mathieu Mirano presented a science fiction movie-inspired collection. The 21-year-old designer’s line included long, multi-hued sequin gowns, chainmail embroidered nude tulle dresses, meteorite-printed black wool pencil skirts and beaver fur-cropped jackets.

American fashion designer Thom Browne presented his maiden women's collection at the event. The Victorian era inspired gothic line featured a variety of couture pieces such as stiff body-armour dresses, peplums, turtlenecks and furry jackets in black, white, gray and red hues.
