‘Cross Cultural Multi Ethnic’ was the main tagline behind Tom Ford’s official entry to London Fashion Week. The Texas-born designer staged his maiden catwalk show on the penultimate day of the biannual event.

Shunning his trademark minimalism, the 51-year-old designer this time showcased a wild, crazy, graphic-printed collection infused with tribal elements, dramatic shapes, lace and high collars.

The first-ever public runway debut of the designer’s eponymous line featured folkloric floral motifs, monochrome prints, sequins, colourful embroidery and crystal detailing on a range of outfits based on a cheerful palette of violet, indigo blue, flaming red, pink and orange.

The essentially feminine Autumn/Winter 2013 collection included plush fur coats, fray hemmed tight fitting sheaths, beaded tunics, puffer and structured aviator jackets as well as intricately embellished slinky, long-sleeved evening gowns.
