Low-maintenance, fuss-free practical fashion is what all modern fashionistas seek in today’s age where one is bombarded with multiple sartorial choices, and to achieve that particular level of functionality in contemporary fashion, Italian clothing label MaxMara seems to have hit the bull’s eye by creating a line of functional yet very elegant clothes.

The day two of Milan Fashion Week was opened by MaxMara’s latest fall-winter collection inspired by the German crafts and fine arts school Bauhaus. The highly structured line featured hooded overcoats, nubby textured jackets, cashmere trouser suits, blousons, cocoon bombers, pencil skirts and dresses in a neutral palette of camel, navy blue, dark green, black and occasional pops of yellow.

Designer Roberto Cavalli’s sub-label Just Cavalli focused more on creating a youthful line that can appeal women from around the globe. The Italian fashion designer drew inspiration from the dressing styles of native Bhutanese women for his ethnicity influenced collection which included tunics paired with pants, colourful evening gowns, fur trimmed hooded parkas and jacquard animal print oversized sweaters.

World’s renowned womenswear specialist Prada tried to recreate the opulently glamorous bygone era of 1950s Hollywood fashion in her latest vintage-inspired collection, which showcased fit and flared tweed skirts, mink and sable jackets, gilded gowns, chinchilla cuffed gauntlet sleeve coats and sheer see-through silk dresses.
