Post-globalization, appreciation of Indian handicrafts and handlooms has taken a back seat. Sensing a need for its revival, C P Art Centre at Alwarpet, Chennai, set up an exhibition 'Crafts Utsav' to provide an opportunity to craftsmen of the country to exhibit their products.
The exhibition showcases a variety of products with prices ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 50,000 and above.
Discounts are also offered with special discount of 20 percent on handlooms, 15 percent on jewellery and 10 percent on handicrafts.
Crafts Utsav exhibits an array of crafts, artefacts, clothes and knitwear, carved from red wood, sheesham, Kadhar and sandalwood.
It displays some products made of light absorbing and reflecting items, precious and semi-precious stones, from the quarries of Rajasthan and other places.
Crafts Utsav has prominent display of products made of bronze, pearls, gold jewellery, Rajasthan jewellery, specially designed range of bangles modern youths, jarri and cotton bags, churidars and salwars. The exhibition is to continue till February 12, organizers informed.
