The 40th edition of Portuguese fashion fair ModaLisboa, also known as Lisbon Fashion Week, concluded recently with an innovative line-up of exclusive presentations from over 18 well-known and up and coming designers of Portugal.

Jointly organized by Lisbon City Council and Association ModaLisboa, the event featured latest autumn/winter 2013 collections by prolific designers like Louis Buchinho, Pedro Pedro, Alexandra Moura, Ricardo Preto, Nuno Baltazar, Dino Alves, Philip Sparks, Miguel Vieira and Nuno Gama.

Clothing label Marqués'Almeida, owned by the designer duo Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida, presented a sophisticated urban collection decorated with zebra and military prints. The line included raw silk gowns, wide legged pants, biker jackets, sheepskin stoles and narrow cut jeans.

Famous Portuguese couture brand V!tor showcased a heavenly fall collection inspired by the tribal deities and muses. Accentuated with origami details and stripes, the range featured kaftans, skirts, dresses, sweatshirts, sweaters, turbans and caps.

Other than the avant-garde creations by Portuguese designers, the three-day-long event also included a special catwalk show by Polish guest designer Monika Ptaszek, who featured her creations under an exchange programme between ModaLisboa and Poland's Fashion Philosophy event.

Short lectures on topics ranging from fashion and its influence on art, business, consumerism, and social and political movements of the present times were also organized on the sidelines of the event.
