Griff Rhys Jones will open Designs of the Year on March 19, 2013 at Design Museum, London. It is an exhibition and annual award that celebrates the best of global design from the last 12 months. Griff, who is a member of the jury that decides the winner, will be joined by other members of the jury – Johanna Agerman Ross, Amanda Levete and Nicolas Roope – and a selection of designers.

The exhibition will showcase all the 99 nominations including The Shard, the Olympic Cauldron, a non-stick ketchup bottle, a folding wheel, and fashion designs from Louis Vuitton, Giles Deacon and Miuccia Prada.

Griff Rhys Jones is a Welsh comedian, writer, actor, television presenter and personality. Jones came to national attention in the early 1980s for his work in the BBC television comedy sketch shows Not the Nine O'Clock News and Alas Smith and Jones along with his comedy partner Mel Smith.

With Smith, he founded television production company Talkback Productions. He went on to develop a career as a television presenter and writer, as well as continuing with acting work. Jones has also received a gold and several silver D&AD awards for his work in advertising.
