Canadian born 26-year-old Matthew Gallagher opened the penultimate day of World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto with his Monaco-inspired collection.

The designer’s small aptly-edited 10-piece range featured crisp, simple silhouettes with a strong focus on impeccable construction. The chic fall-winter 2013 ensembles include black tunics, shorts, dramatic gowns, long flowing velvet skirts and beige anoraks.

Montreal-based clothing label Uunttld by designer duo José Manuel St-Jacques and Simon Bélanger featured an elegant yet sexy womenswear collection inspired by men’s formal wear. Based on a sombre palette of black, the line included backless dresses, trench coats, fluid sheer shirts, tough biker jackets and densely textured leather skirts.

Fashion brand Soia & Kyo, from Montreal’s Ilan Elfassy, once again presented its latest range of fashionable and practical outerwear which included motocross jackets with elbow patches, burgundy leather bomber jackets, grey woollen parkas and structured quilted coats.

Designer Sunny Fong drew inspiration from Canadian wilderness for the latest collection of his luxury ready-to-wear label Vawk. Scattered with Nordic prints of bare twigs and brown leaves, the range featured belted woollen coats, strapless red carpet gowns, furry vests and sweeping fishtail dresses.
