The forthcoming edition of World Costume Festival, which exhibits outfits designed specifically for theatres, festivals and other live performances, is going to take place in Vigan City, located in the Filipino province of Ilocos Sur.

Part of the city’s annual Viva Vigan Binatbatan Festival of the Arts, the event will include design competitions, exhibitions and street performance parades.

Scheduled to go on from April 26 to May 2, 2013, the festival will also feature weavers’ trade expos showcasing indigenous designs of Philippines, such as batik, abel and piña, as well as international fabrics used in the making of costumes and accessories.

In addition to trade exhibitions, the weeklong event will host forums and workshops on costume designing conducted by international and local costume designers.

The Viva Vigan Festival of Arts aims to promote awareness about the historical town of Vigan City, which has been marked as a World Heritage Site by Unesco for its Spanish colonial architecture and cobblestone streets.
