Twelve Months of Healing, the Veil of Womanhood is the first American exhibition that explores the creative and cultural expressions of art and fashion aimed at highlighting the impact of women’s issues around the globe.

This exhibit will feature two of the countries most creative and self expressed African American female visionaries today.

Art and Fashion have always been instrumental in cultural and creative self-expression.

Fashion designer, Therez Fleetwood and contemporary visual artist, Kottavei have come together to create works of fashion/art based upon the cultural relevant themes of Motherhood, Cervical Cancer, HIV/Aids, Breast Cancer, Incest/Rape, Domestic Violence, Reproductive Rights, Obesity, Human Sex Trafficking , Education, Mental Illness, and Poverty.

The exhibit will be a groundbreaking exploration of the unification of women and will use fashion as ART to tell our stories globally. The garments will be made from natural fibers and will be adorned with different materials such as flowers, beadwork, belly castings, quilted fabrics and scarification, feathers, and stained glass.

With this pairing of fashion and art, we hope to encourage a platform of immense creative energy and on-going conversation about women’s issues, challenges and adversities.
