With the wedding season around the corner, a fanciful memorabilia-cum-exhibition, featuring a lavish array of sumptuous bridal gowns worn over the past 100 years, will be held at the American Textile History Museum, Massachusetts.

Running from April 6 to August 11, 2013, the expo titled ‘Behind the Veil: Brides and their Dresses’ will give viewers an opportunity to have a closer look at the variedly changing styles and designs of wedding gowns over generations.

The exhibition will not only offer an exclusive intimate view at the stunning gowns but also give some insightful glimpses into the lives of the brides who wore them and how their decisions of choosing these gowns were shaped by fashion, family and finances.

The exhibits would include simple homemade dresses from the early 19th century, traditional princess-style outfits, a brown coloured gown made in 1886, an orange flapper dress from 1928, an ivory peplum gown worn in 1995 and some recent funky animal print and mini bridalwears.

Other than the display of wedding gowns and photographs, special programmes on hand-woven couture and eco-friendly wedding attires as well as a wedding dress preservation workshop will also be organized on the sidelines of the event.
