Australian designer Jayson Brunsdon celebrated the tenth anniversary of his eponymous line with a special runway presentation on the second day of the ongoing Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) in Sydney.

Inspired by the styles of mid-century couture and 1950s-60s cinemas, the collection was based on an ethereal palette of silver and grey with splashes of cardinal red and royal blue. The line featured trapeze dresses, bolero jackets with arc shoulders and exaggeratedly angular neckline attached tops.

Iconic images of the all-time favourite Hollywood screen goddess Marilyn Monroe in The Last Sitting collection shot by American fashion and celebrity portrait photographer Bertram Stern played as an inspiration behind the New Zealand-based designer Kate Sylvester’s latest creations showcased at MBFWA.

Her spring/summer 2014 line featured floaty pleated silk skirts, feminine and sporty simple black dresses with lingerie like corsetry details, cropped military Eisenhower jacket as well as pearls and beading decorated tops and knitwear.

Perth’s fashion talent Kym Ellery showcased her Renegade collection on the second day of the event. Infused with her signature structured shoulders, the ensembles included long, streamlined skirts, oversized fur gilets and cheongsams with bold thigh-high splits in neutral shades of gold, black and cream.
