Those who think that 1920s fashion was all about arms and legs exposing loose knee length flapper dresses are in for a surprise as an amazing sartorial treat, celebrating the styles and trends of that era, awaits them at the John Harris-Simon Cameron Mansion in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

The exhibition titled 1920s Fashion Exhibit features a range of clothing and accessory collections sourced from the Shippensburg University Fashion Archives and Museum (SUFAM).

Displayed in two newly created exhibition spaces inside the mansion, the exhibits include beaded dresses, capes and fitted bell-shaped cloches from the 20th century.

Additionally, two 1929 bridal attires, a brown silk wedding dress and a cream-colored silk bridal gown, from the personal wardrobe of the yesteryear’s famous American actress Lois Wilson Brown is on display at the event.

Running till September 26, 2013, the exhibition has been jointly organized by The Historical Society of Dauphin County and John Harris-Simon Cameron Mansion.

SUFAM is a Pennsylvanian educational institution-cum-museum that preserves and exhibits its collection of clothing and accessories for teaching and research purposes both on- and off-campus.
