Hanoi to host Vietnam-Italy fashion show, close cooperation boosts textile and footwear trade

The Vietnam Fine Arts Museum will host an Italy - Vietnam fashion show in Hanoi during June 1-2, 2005.
To be held under jointly by Italian Embassy and the Vietnam Fashion Design Institute (FADIN), the event marks Italy's National Day celebrations.
Addressing a press meet on Tuesday, Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Alfredo Matacotta Cordella informed that Erreuno - a welknown fasion house of Italy has joined hands with Vietnamese fashion designers Nguyen Quoc Binh and Nguyen Trong Nguyen to exhibit a collection that represents traditional and modern styles.
In recent past, Italy and Vietnam have seen close cooperation in the field of textiles, garments and footwear industries, the results of which are clearly visible in the marketplace. Vietnam imports machinery, fabric, cloth, leather materials from Italy, while the latter imports woollen articles, leather shoes, bags and other leather products from Vietnam.
In 2004, in terms of foreign exchange earned, Italy grossed 15.3 million euros from textiles and garments exports to Vietnam, whereas its (Italy's) imports of woollen and garment products stood at over 16 million euros and 43.6 million euros respectively.
