The Southern African Clothing & Textile Workers' Union informs that 'Cape Town Fashion Festival' starts on 16 March, 2006. It is 'Wear South African' as designers and manufacturers step up the heat in getting South Africans to support the local retail and business sectors.
Official launch of the Festival to alert the media to the events and objectives of the Festival includes a fashion show and an announcement on the industry/panel discussion.
The fashion show will include designers such as Sun Gode'ss, Ruby, Craig Port , Craig Native, Bongiwe Walaza, Sonwabile Ndamase, Lesego Malatsi and Ge-maine Christopher.

Venue: The Castle, Cape Town CBD
Time: 11h00 – 15h00
Concept: Fashion workers reclaiming the streets of Cape Town ': Procession with workers dressed in the clothing they manufacture. Starts in District Six and culminates in a music concert and fashion shows with workers and professional models wearing today's hottest designs at the Castle.
Designers showing at the fashion show will include Pumla Mgxekana, Funeka, Register 7, Ge-maine Christopher, David Tlale, Amanda Laird Cherry, Hop Hop, Ghetto Star, Darkie and Gert-Johan.
The Cape Town Fashion Festival has uniquely incorporated all players in the fashion pipeline, from the designers, tailors and dressmakers through to the CMTs, manufacturers, retailers and the consumer.
